LOCATION
Select English is an English language school in Cambridge. This British Council accredited language school is the perfect place for you to study and learn English. Select English offer quality English language courses throughout the year, as well as Summer camps in Cambridge. The School care about students and maintain small class sizes and one to one tutorials to help you progress. As a family run school, you can be sure to feel at home.
Cambridge is globally recognised as a hub of international education and English language learning, making it a great place for students to study. Thanks to the great number of cultural and historical points of interest, in Cambridge you will never have a dull moment. You can take tours around the university buildings, enjoy some time in a cafe, shop in the Grand Arcade, walk around the charming streets that surround it, and you could even try punting. There are also plenty of green areas where you can play sports or just relax.
Cambridge is close to other major cities and sights. London is only a short 45 minute train journey away. Heathrow and Stansted airport are just 1.5 hours and 30 minutes from Cambridge respectively.
COURSES
General English
We offer general English and intensive English courses as well as IELTS exam preparation. You can choose from 15, 20 or 25 hours per week.
We have an ongoing 12 week syllabus and progress is monitored throughout the course. This is greatly helped by regular one-to-one tutorials with teachers. School offer Elementary- Advanced levels and you will be tested on your first day to find out your level of English.
Furthermore:
- You will expand your range of vocabulary
- You will practice and develop your knowledge of English grammar
- You will improve your pronunciation of English
- You will use a course book, which you can borrow from the school.
- You will have two different teachers so you can experience a range of accents and teaching styles
IELTS
Select English Cambridge offer IELTS preparation classes throughout the year. Students can choose the IELTS option as part of the 20 or 25 hour per week course.
The course offers a combination of General English classes and exam preparation classes. Students are helped towards their goals with regular progress checks, practice tests and one-to-one tutorials. Additionally, the Director of Studies will help you to register to take the exam here in Cambridge at the end of your course if required.
ACCOMMODATION
Cambridge Homestay
Select English can arrange for students to stay in homestay accommodation in Cambridge during their stay. Staying in homestay accommodation can be an excellent way to get to know the culture better as well as providing more opportunities to practise English. Many of the homestay hosts have internet. Please let us know well in advance if you are hoping to have a homestay with internet.
Homestay accommodation is provided in single rooms for all students on our year-round General English and IELTS courses. For students on Cambridge Juniors or English Plus, homestay accommodation is in twin rooms. Meals – half-board.
Price – £205/week (Min 2 weeks)
Residential Accommodation
A school offers residential accommodation available for students aged 18+ attending General English courses between 8th July – 1st September.
