THE RESIDENCE

Barton Hall is to be found in Devon. It is in the heart of the English Riviera with views to Torquay’s blue flag beaches and is close to Dartmoor. The Hall is situated near to Dartmoor National Park and between the towns of Exeter and Plymouth. Set in 19 hectares, near to several blue flag beaches, with outdoor heated swimming pool.

ENGLISH CLASSES

24 hours of lessons during a 2 week stay
33 hours of lessons during a 3 week stay
48 hours of lessons during a 4 week stay

Students are given an English language test on arrival and placed in English classes according to their language level. Average number of students per class 12-14 with a maximum of 16. The staff are all fully qualified teachers. Many of teachers have worked regularly on the past programmes. They work with great enthusiasm and energy to make their classes really vibrant and enjoyable.

Emphasis on spoken English and listening skills, including work on essential grammar and vocabulary. We aim to make students effective and confident in their everyday communication. All course materials supplied.

ACCOMMODATION & FOOD

Students will be in rooms tof 4 to 8 beds, sharing bathroom facilities with a few other rooms. Meals : continental  or English breakfast and two hot meals per day served in the self-service restaurant. The food is typically English.

ACTIVITIES AND EXCURSIONS

Examples of activities: canoeing, climbing, abseiling, raft building, high ropes, Jacobs ropes, orienteering, mountain biking, fencing etc. Evening games: quiz, disco, films. talent show, treasure hunt, campfire, thematic nights etc.

1 whole day excursion per week. Examples of whole day excursions: Exeter, Plymouth, Dartmouth, Torquay, Dartmoor National Park etc. Students are supervised by highly experienced team of teachers, instructors and youth leaders working under the direction of our Centre.
